On the right to work for people in prison
In 2020, Latouche Avocats won a significant labor rights victory for prisoners and former prisoners in Lyon. The case involved a group of individuals who, after serving their sentences, faced difficulties re-entering the labor market due to discrimination and specific legal barriers. Our team of lawyers presented strong arguments, demonstrating that the restrictions imposed on former prisoners violated the fundamental principles of equality and social reintegration established by French law.
After a rigorous trial, the Lyon court ruled in favor of our clients, determining that the discriminatory practices and barriers to employment were unlawful and needed to be reformed. This decision not only allowed the former prisoners to reintegrate into the labor market, but also set an important legal precedent, promoting a more inclusive and equitable approach for all workers.
This case is a clear example of Latouche Avocats’ commitment to social justice and the defense of fundamental rights. Our victory in Lyon highlighted the importance of tackling inequality and ensured that labour legislation evolves to reflect the principles of rehabilitation and equality of opportunity. We continue to work resolutely to ensure that the rights of all, especially the most vulnerable, are respected.
